    Hi All,
    This is up for auction, listed/described as a Coast Salish basket, 12" x 24". I don't think it is, the design doesn't look First Nations, but I'm wrong most times with this stuff.
    any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

    It is an interesting basket, in a shape I haven't encountered before; but I'm pretty sure not First Nations. Others will undoubtedly be able to identify the exact origin.

    Interesting basket. Not like any Coast Salish I have ever seen. From the design I would have said somewhere Asian/Pacific, but it looks like willow rods and skeins have been used (at least for the light colored elements), which is not typical for that origin.

    it's not coast salish
    or interior salish
    or mountain salish
    or river salish
    or urban salish
    or suburban salish
    or Smerconish Salish........

    Run away....run away fast !!!!! :playful::playful::playful::playful::playful:

    If it's of any help, it's made in the style of baskets from Sarawak, in Malaysia, although several other Asian basket makers make similar baskets.

    But, as has already been confirmed, definitely not Native American.

    If it goes cheap, it's a nice basket. Malaysian baskets, I'm guessing, go for a lot less. It looks like a good place for the remotes.
