The scene is transfer - the gold leaf might be too - not sure but I think so. Marked in russian/cyrillic on the base. There is also a pictorial mark and it's numbered. Maybe @Figtree3 or @Natasha can help? :) Any and help appreciated. 4" high. Had a hard time with the pics as it is very reflective/glossy.

There’s also a signature below main scene, maybe you could get another picture of.
Very nice, it looks like a tapestry!

Yeah trying to get a pic of the sig/mark on below the scene but they're transfer and are not really in focus in the best of shots - i'll see what i can do.

The story is based on "Tsar Saltan" fairy tale by Pushkin - that is what the writing on the bottom of the egg says along with a code which I assume is the number of the model.

Can´t read the signature of the artist on the first close-up picture. The second picture says "Palekh" - this is the style of the particular miniature painting named after the town where it was originally produced.

Beautiful, Aaron. With that hole in the base it looks like it could have been on a stand.
The stippling looks a bit strange. Maybe a transfer with hand-painted details?

Palekh is the village where most of the fairy tale themed Russian lacquerware comes from. The artists (ca 10% of the small population) are amazing.
They are still making lacquerware there, but as far as I'm aware they don't decorate porcelain. The scene is probably based on a Palekh papier maché box or placque.

Definitely transfer ...and yes there are some hand done details. Based on a Palekh image makes sense - thank you AJ!
