My Grandfather worked in a munitions factory during WW1 and made this in his free time using a coin of the day.
Thought you would like a look.

A nice piece of Trench Art.

Trench art is commonly defined as any decorative item made by soldiers, prisoners of war or civilians, where the manufacture is directly linked to armed conflict or its consequences.

That is spectacular! I LOVE it!!! How lucky you are to have it! :)
I have some items with the best being a German container made from a mortar and has a fitted top. It is fully hand engraved and with a sunflower, stem, leaves and all, which stands about 4" tall on the top center. All heavy brass. It is something else and probably made in the US in a POW camp though not sure of this.
I only have this jet handy as a picture. Probably Korea to Vietnam era best I can tell and recently given to me by a succeeding owner who tells me he knew I was the only one to have it. :)

That is quite an unusual and interesting way to produce a plane, fantastic.

That thing's really cute. Trench art and prisoner art can be seriously creative. Hang onto that.

Great piece. It looks like the hat Genl. MacArthur wore.
