Cold Painted Pottery Vase

    Not sure yet if I want to strip it down or not?

    Although I cannot see the back, the flowers look beautiful. I wouldn't remove them.

    Thanks. That’s surely looks like a good possibility. After seeing those glazes I really feel like stripping it down. Unless, the cold paint is original.

    Or there is damage. Maybe start with the base and see what that looks like if you decide to try.

    A0D4EEFF-C959-4878-B9E8-0BDD1CD87914.jpeg 6E806B55-0356-4717-857F-E17CF2639EA3.jpeg Base seems to be unglazed. Inside is yellow glaze but the top interior also appears unglazed. I’ve also noticed different sizes of the linked examples, 5,9,10 nches. Mine is 11.
    I don’t see any cracks or hairlines on the so of there is a damage it may be just on the surface.
    I think I’ll try to remove the paint...

    I guess if you're planning to sell it and the maker isn't known, which version would sell best right now. Plain or painted?

    Here is the thing. These vases were made in the 20-30’s. If mine example was overpainted shortly after it was made I would considered it “original” to the period decoration. But there was no paint chips or flaking so I thought it was painted much later.
    Then, I was hoping to find an interesting glaze underneath. Well, I did not..
    So, whatever. Will post pics when fully cleaned.

    Thanks. I wish it was glazed but I think I like it better this way.
