Does anyone recognize these continental hallmarks on this silver mustard pot with portrait busts of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette?
    Thank you for looking! IMG_6515.jpg IMG_6516.jpg IMG_6517.jpg IMG_6520.JPG

Can't see enough detail in the marks to determine country,

I'm not totally sure what the marks are either, magnified 3X, thinking the RIGHT one kind of resembles a grasshopper facing Right.....but then not sure what could be on it's back!!! I could also be wrong......

Just wondering Laura, could it be silverplate?

And on @Any Jewelry's thought, if de-saturating might be of any help in identifying the marks!

Yes it could be plated. It tested pretty strong but I have never seen marks like these.

I know it seems weird, but they almost seem to have an Egyptian vibe, to ME! But then doesn't seem logical on that Mustard Pot!

I'm wondering whether the metal is actually pewter instead of silver.

Laura said it tested as silver, so maybe plated.

I don't recognize the marks as anything. Not Continental silver, not pewter, not silverplate.
Maybe it wasn't Western made, but made after a European mustard pot.

This came from a huge collection of German 13 Loth silver. This has a lot of French motif going on but so many countries copied French design. I'll see if I can get any better shots. I thought the middle mark might be a number like 71 or 77 for the purity but just not sure.

It has the 'heaviness' of German pieces. And come to think of it, the portraits could be Prussian king Frederick the Great in his later years, and his wife, Elisabeth Christine.

I retested the pot and it shows strong content. I originally thought this was 800 silver. Here is a better photograph of the hallmarks. Does it look like pre-1886 Germany? I am stumped! mustardpot.jpg

Is that Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette or generic Rococo-era figures?

I thought they looked like Frederick the Great in his later years, and his wife, Elisabeth Christine. The general look is rather German to me, what I call a heavy look.

I am not yet convinced the marks are from Hanau.

I am. I have handled quite a few pieces. Partial sloppy hallmarks are a tell tail sign. Also you can put it to this forum and they will be sure to tell you.
