It is probably not very old, but is definitely mid to late 20th century or earlier. My father got it as a gift from a friend who was or is a doctor. Beyond that, all I know is he said it is a copy of a famous map of the World. It seems to be very very well made. The frame isn't striking to me but fits The piece regarding color and not drawing attention away from the piece. I would like to know how it was made, it appears to be gold foil with raised inked areas( for example the circle of animals located in top middle seem to be 3-Dimensional.) the map seemingly is written in Latin. Near the bottom left there are angel children looking creatures with wings blowing air? Creating the winds? Please give me as much, and I mean a son much information as possible! I have had this piece for a little while now and I love love love love it, it plays in direct light so well!!!! Thanks. And I will do as requested with the pictures. More pics to follow momentarily

If you go to edit and put your cursor at the bottom right of the dupes and hit backspace you can get rid of them. :)

The text in the top caption is in Dutch, if you can take focused pictures of that, I can read it and tell you more about the original.
What I can discern right now is that it was probably commissioned by a German Elector (a king who could participate in the vote for the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire).

Willem Blaeu would be a good place to start looking.

A good name, but I don't know of any Blaeu world maps with a caption that it was commissioned by a German Elector.
There were other very good Dutch cartographers. Legible pictures would help to identify this one.

And THANK YOU, @Ihaveolditems for using the FULL IMAGE size!!!!!! MUCH appreciated, believe me!!!! Not trying to sound picky here at all, but the better the images, the better a couple of the specialists can help you......so, in that vein.....clear, sharp, crisp, bright and maybe 480 x whatever matches up with that number!!! ALSO, straight on shots are best!!! AGAIN, Thanks SO MUCH!!!!!! Close-ups are terrific when going for detail too!!!
