    Olive oil is often advised here in Europe, for coral and for amber, that is why I advised it.
    I never use it myself because I don't like the thick consistency of it. That is why I use rice bran oil. Which is much nicer to use anyway, and no smell.
    Since most mineral oils are petroleum based and because they can act as a sealant, it is not advised for gemstones overhere.

    By the way @reader , I sit in awe of your knowledge too.:)

    XOX AJ. BTW the wildest advice I’ve been given is from a friend who said not to use any oil on my jade but to just rub the sides of my nose and rub the beads-haven’t done that as he doesn’t wear makeup lol but he swears that was the method used by mesoamericans to polish their stone beads.

    Back when I smoked a pipe we always would use the oils on the side of the nose to polish the brier as it would give a great shine and allow the wood to breath. :cigar::cigar::cigar:
