A wealthy ladies high end jewelry collection was auctioned off. I bought a bag consisting of some of the costume and some silver stuff. These were in the bag. Not marked for the metal but a makers mark is present. Hs it’s looks like. It could be sH I suppose. Anyone know it? Taking a wild guess. Hoop earrings? "HS" mark?

HS for H. Samuel maybe? It's a high street British jewelry shop chain.

I didn’t understand your comment the first time I saw it. Yes the hoop earrings that I did not single out by name amongst the few other items.

Thanks. The few pieces of theirs on eBay that I found marks for didn’t match this one. I’ll look more when I have more time and see if I can find any of their stuff with this mark.

Not H Samuel. If they're marked at all by them, it's full hallmarks.

I think the question was whether you were asking about the hoop earrings. Or do all items have the same mark?

Dunno about anyone else, but my eyes went right to the pot metal and rhinestone brooch in the back!

    Fourthed. It's a bit duette.

Isn’t it beautiful! Nether a duette or buckle. Just a regular brooch as far as I recall. I’m out of town. I’ll look again when I get back. I believe it’s a Kenneth Lane piece. There were only a few photos of the lot with no closeups. This was the only “bulk” jewelry lot I got that day of a handful available. I assumed since I got it cheap that the in house bidders must have thought it wasn’t worth the opening $100 bid. I was having slight buyers remorse. When I finally picked it up I was very pleasantly surprised. Ended up being a fantastic deal. Based on this one I wish I had thrown in an extra bid on the others.

Love the brooch and it has some age. The costume hoop earrings look quite recent to me and that type of hinged back on a post is almost always found on moderate-price brands. Are the stones set open-backed?

If that nice rhinestone brooch is Kenneth Jay Lane, it's a modern take on a Deco era piece. I think he started creating jewelry in the early 1960s.

Very pretty piece, and definitely a known maker.

I don’t believe they are open backed. I didn’t think these earrings were likely super high end but they are nice quality so worth a shot on figuring out the mark.
