Featured Crazy unique jade diamond ring 10k! MCM

I bought this the other day for scrap and loved it! I try to buy anything unique when I have the opportunity and this definitely checks the unique box. It is in great condition and it does fit me however I don't know if I'd wear it myself! The maker mark is SGS and I can find similar rings online but nothing about the maker. The ring appears to be 1960s 70s

 

Possibly made by a student/hobbyist,I don't think a professional would sell a ring with a poorly made shank.

 

Definitely unusual.

Its beautiful! The color is yummy. It's a very cool piece.

And there's nothing wrong with the shank..... Some people just like to be negative, I guess

 

Maybe take a closer look,where I worked it would have gone into the recycle bin long before the prongs were soldered on and the stones set.

 

I can't see what's wrong either… Please help us out and explain. I'm not a jeweler and have never professionally sold jewelry.

Also, the platform for the jade doesn't seem to be attached to the shank symmetrically. I don't think anyone would notice it when you wear it, but it could have been done better.

An unusual ring, a mix of a classic toi-et-moi ring and Modernism. The jade looks Canadian to me.

I'd wear that in a heartbeat.

 

It could even be Russian jade. I'd wear that too. It may have been a custom piece or done by a small firm at the back end of nowhere.

Spartcom-Not sure what you meant by- 'ring 10k!' It could be worth that much or a bit of levity ?

 

I love the unique design. Definitely an occasional ring if I had it because I just know I'd catch those edges on things.

Circled casting flaw,circled long areas appear to be a particularly soldered inner liner. Other areas unclear in photo and probably visible in hand.

 

Thanks, I see it now, there is even a cavity where you circled it.
So probably a hobbyist piece, which could also account for the unusual design.

 

Now I do, too... I didn't know what to look for.
Nevertheless, I love it!

Most jewelry will have flaws if you look at it with a 20x loupe.
Unless you paid $$$$ for custom work, then you might expect perfection.
