Hi everyone!! Could someone please tell me if this is an original or print?? What should i be looking for to help determine the difference. I have heard that Currier and Ives are often fakes, (prints). Thanks in advance. This is framed with mirror below it. It's not so much that there are a lot of "fakes" so much as there are a lot of reproductions not of the period.

First thing you need to do is get out a good magnifying glass and look closely at the printed image. If you see "dots" of color making up the image, then it was printed by modern methods and is not "original."

Good find, INH. Note that the item did not sell, but "is no longer available." The frame does have that Post WW-2 "early american" look.

Thanks Bakersgma, I do not see dots but I also do not see the Currier and Ives NY address which I think is typically on the originals.

It could be an original that was framed at a much later date.

Or, even if you don't see tiny regular dots, it could be a reproduction done using a 20th century lithographic process used to mass produce prints that doesn't actually show any dots. I've had quite a few 20th century prints and postcards done that way.

    Size should be about 8 7/8" x 12 7/8".
