What do you think it is?
Other than a hook and loop clasp of some sort I can’t see how it would attach and what to. Stitched on? Please enlighten me!
Each star is around 1inch across.
Is it likely Victorian or am I way out?

Pardon me for barging in...and I don’t want to hijack the thread here, but is there a name for this two-part joining on something like this? I’ve had this rectangular “thing” that has a diamond shaped stamped steel Over a brass backer that is joined together like KSW’s piece. I’m not by it, or I’d shoot a pic. Maybe I’ll start a thread tomorrow. Has a series of really sharp hooks on a hinge. Odd thing.
