My £1 for the lot save from the car boot today.
The sweets are all in good condition but sadly the animals all have damage. I couldn’t resist Thumper and the wise owl.
Any ideas where these come from or a guess at their age please?
    Thankyou :)

I collect blown glass animals (thank Tennessee Willliams for that) .Those are much nicer quality than one usually finds. Love them !

In the UK I think these are from more exclusive Christmas Crackers.

I remember now, I completely by accident (crystal ball obviously as I had no idea you collected them) sent you a glass tree for Christmas!
I was very ambitious to send that across the pond and still amazed it arrived intact!
Do you know where these are likely made or is it impossible to know?

No wonder they are all damaged! Whoever thought of putting the most fragile glass into a Christmas cracker :hilarious:

Those candies look good enough to eat. Such cute animals too.

The sweeties are often relatively modern Chinese. Yes, the animals are lampwork, not blown. Formed over a bunsen burner or similar. If you tag Rosie Pearce on one of the glass Facebook groups, she's an astonishing collection of rare ones.

It was a bird bath, and I love it ! They can be made anywhere people blow glass. I got my 1st piece (a 1000 years ago) at a fair.

My mother used to have LOADS of those little glass candies, so they'd date back at least to the late 80s or early 90s.

I hated them because they were a PAIN to dust every week. I was so glad when we got rid of them.

Those lampwork animals have been around for quite some time.
I had Murano lampwork animals as a child in the early 60s. And yes, they survived, but I gave them away to someone who collected them.

The best thing with the sweeties is to wash them.

Bimini was one maker I was trying to remember.

Thumper identified as Pirelli! Thanks to Rosie Pearce.
    Possibly the owl too.
