We have often done car boots but it is hard work getting good prices.

Nowadays it is getting too hard to load the car, set up and put up with the bottom feeders!!

    Just a word on eBay.

Infuriating platform, glitches and not cheap.

But it is easily our main sales platform and we list about 300 new items each month and roughly 1300/1500 items at any one time.

If anyone has items for sale that can be posted they are king of the hill IMHO.

Rhiwfield, thanks! I used to sell on ebay decades ago, but will have to relearn all of the rules. The type of stuff I have will probably do best to be sold there.

I can't believe there was ever the time period I sold there when I thought being an ebay seller was "fun" and I did it in my "spare time" as a "hobby" !! lmfao! :D

I used to sell a few things on Amazon. I looked the other day because I have boxes of slide dying containers and thought they might sell there. You now have to pay, I think it was, $40 up front to start selling. That throws the small seller to the curb.

Hey All. We are in the same position. DD and only grandchild think Ikea is wonderful. DS and DIL, no kids, love high end things.
About a year ago, I realized we needed to get rid of things ... so it has started! We attacked a large dresser full of sterling and silver plate, first. Have made it thru 2 drawers. Sterling engraved from grandparents, son has taken. Most of rest have sold, probably for scrap on ebay. Splate is slowly selling but at minimal prices unless rare.
Since my walking abilities are very limited, depend on DH to bring things for photos then storage.
24 place settings of Kirk will be divided, half to be saved for granddaughter, other half we are going to sell, sadly.
All of this is just the beginning, Sent a load of furniture to auction for next month.
DH hasn't brought anything of his to sell:yawn: Will be interesting to see if he is willing to part with any of his treasures.
Good luck in lightening the load. Patd

I figure if I'm lucky I might have 20 years left in me. Don't think I want to continue the store for another 20 though.

We have one son, who has informed me to sell it all now as the dumpster will be coming. He hasn't the time or patience to deal with all the Stuff. Garage, tuff shed, store, basement, every flat spot in the house. I'm overloaded and don't know how I will ever get through it all.

Soooooo, I have started to tag all the items in the house as to value, or who it belonged to. That way when he throws it in the dumpster, he will know how much money and which granny's items, he is throwing away.:p:smug::smug::smug: Ain't revenge sweet! ! !;):smuggrin::smuggrin:

I think I have about 20 good years left also. I have no kids so I will have to start selling stuff soon :woot:

Yes that would toss me to the curb! Craigslist has been a boon for me in the past, perhaps I will revisit that method in the future.
