I am loving this thread. Here is one of my yard pets, Mommy Turtle. She has been living in our yard for years. I have only seen her this year, but last year there was a smaller female (probably her offspring) and over the years various male turtles.

I found pictures of the Daddy turtles. This is the first guy who showed up.

These are box turtles. They are not endangered, but getting there. They spend their whole lives within a range of one mile. The females have brown eyes and less brilliant coloring. The males are brighter with red eyes. I have a yard cat, Baby, who showed up 14 years ago. We tried to tame her and bring her in, she wasn't having it, so we have taken care of her. Mommy turtle eats kitty kibble she finds in the yard, and she has a shallow drinking dish.

    Hi Marko,
I lived here for years and shortly after the other moderator here died. A male box turtle showed up on my patio looking into the house. I quickly called him Don and he has been showing up several times a year looking into the house and crawling off into the plants. I have no reason to think it is the spirit of Don but also no reason to think it's not.

Daddy turtle would be a hit with the goth crowd! Mama is really cute. And all those flowers... yowza. We used to have a real flower garden, but no one's really up to it any more. These wildflowers do turn up every year. The flowers are bitty, but they're bright blue. Asiatic Dayflowers, aka Mouse Ears.

Hubby said he saw a HUGE turtle, not Mommy turtle, out in the yard yesterday. He put more kitty kibble out for him.

    Hi evelynb,
Around here those are invasive weeds. I have to pull them out. They grow in the bushes and and roses. I forgot their proper name. The name of mouse ears is wonderful.:rolleyes:

Some folks call them weeds; I call them free landscaping.:kiss:

I don't see a mark on the back of the eBay listed/Worthpoint listed pins. Could this be a knock-off? The stones on yours don't seem as nice and it looks like maybe there's a bit of paint/gold coming off where the two stones are attached. ??
