Featured Does anyone know the age of this sofa?

My husband and I bought this at an auction last night and were just curious if anyone would know approximately how old it was or how to determine the age? Google has been no help. Thank you in advance.

 

What did the auction say it was ?

 

A white sofa? Lol They auction off estate sales and I loved the lines of this one and we paid $10 for it.

 

For $10 , & you like it......it's a deal !
I'll throw out ...1950's...american.....& wait for others to come by and have better info !

Well, i am goin with the auction folks, looks like a match to me!

 

Recover is gonna cost you....but if it's well made and you'll keep it a long time...with what you paid.....it beats the crap out of Ikea !!

 

Oh I know it, my husband just doesn't know that yet! But they just don't make furniture with as much personality as they used to. Well... they might, but you certainly can't buy it for $10.

Wish i could help but i know nada about contemporary furniture, others should be along soon that are more familiar with this. Having said that, reupholstery can get pricey in a hurry depending on fabric.

 

I'd try cleaning it first; reupholstering a piece like that can be a bit of a bear, but for ten bucks it was hard to miss. It's probably a 50s piece as others said.

 

50s -60s American version of French Provincial.

 

The kind of thing that would be found in the living room of a well bred family with raw silk accent pillows.
