I'm not sure exactly how old this is. I know it was purchased by grandparents while traveling (1930-1970). Box is heavy 663 grams. Guess it's brass, but unsure. There is a hard to read makers mark on the bottom which I have been unable to find in any searches. Box is 5 x 2.5 x 2.
    Guessing it's Chinese.
    Any help would be amazing!

WAG, it may be Japanese. I know there is a difference between Chinese and Japanese dragons, the number of toes? Anyway, I don't know why, but the mums on the sides made me think Japanese.

Looks like Japanese antimony ware, it's usually pre WW2. Mark is 佐 which could be a name (Sa, Sakuwa, Sasa - and many others starting Sa). It also means 'help'.

It's really nice. What does the inside look like?Maybe a cigarette box?

This is the inside. It's not lined, just the raw metal.
