    Hi,
I thought this was probably the best place for this piece - dragon or maybe a sea serpent? Souvenir piece, from Indonesia? It is 13"H x 8" base. What kind of wood is this?
    Any information appreciated.
    thanks for looking

I found almost the same, they said it was carved from Palm wood.

It is from Bali. A traditional theme, but carved for tourists from not so very hard wood. The kind of wood is difficult to determine and only important if it is a collectible piece.
The type of crown indicates this is a God, probably Antaboga.
Antaboga, or Sang Hyang Antaboga, is the World Serpent and first creator in Javanese pre-Hindu and pre-Islamic mythology. His name means endless food or riches. In the Javanese Hindu era Antaboga became part of the Hindu mythological stories. Balinese Hinduism is derived from the Javanese tradition.

I can determine it.......Albizia....95% of all the fake NWC Indian carvings are made from this.....
