...Shou Xing the Chinese god of longevity. Think it's him with the bulging forehead. Not sure what he's in or holding in his hand but he's having a good time. I love the way the carver took a large lump of wood and carved everything inside it and there's a name for that but it escapes me for the moment. Also love the detailed tongue and teeth. There is a rather large number 13 carved underneath so I'm guessing the carver wanted the boss to know it was his. Would like to know if I'm right about the character as well as type of wood and origin if anybody knows it. Data 31.7cm High, 27.3cm Wide, 15cm Deep Weighs 4.9KG (10.8Lbs)
Yes, it is Shou Xing. He is holding a peach, a symbol of longevity. He is also sitting inside a peach. So 3x longevity. And very peachy.
