This deep footed plate/shallow bowl was described as having cornflower heads and gilding in the manner of Swansea. I don't recognise it as a Swansea pattern, it is unmarked to base.

Any ideas on maker or painter would be welcomed

If you do a search on Nantgarw china cornflower, there's a plate as Lot 27 on Pinterest, posted by Rogers Jones. It looks VERY reminiscent of yours, but I can't get to the damn content properly.

But have a look here: the Hensol Castle plate.

The centre on the plate is very like yours.

I'm no real expert on Nantgarw, but it does look the quality. Maybe email the museum?

Bear, first thing I did was inspect the back for a mark or impression, absolutely nothing.

But we got this from RJ and had they have been able to prove easily that it was Swansea or Nantgarw it would have gone into their Welsh sale.

Still, the museum idea is good, I think we might even have joined as a member last time we visited!

Just a thought. The design seems similar to late 18th century French porcelain. Is this also a candidate?

The little gilded decorating in the centre makes me think British.

Just had an interesting email from a ceramics specialist.

Maker may be Caughley, (in which case it was possibly decorated by Worcester?)

    Late 18th century.

Pattern Barbeaux Sprigs or per V&A French Sprig (they have a punch bowl)

Here is a teapot stand attributed to Caughley and sold in 2015

Certainly has the look and Caughley would be that quality, too.
