What do you think?. Deco looking ones look to have a grain on them ( best pics I can get at the moment)
I’ve got a couple of pairs with these triangular clips- does that date them at all?
Would the black ones be 50’s glass?
    Thanks as always:)

The first ones look like 1980s ivory. This style was popular in the mid 80s when I was working the costume jewelry counter.

Second ones appear to be garnet. Clips would probably put them in the 1940s-60s time period. But wait for others to confirm.

    Looking again. Maybe not garnets

    Are they black?
    Black glass then.

Black glass, aka French jet and 1950s ish with those clips. I'd agree on the "ivory" ones being 1980s.

Hopefully not real Ivory?. Bone or some sort of plastic?

    Almost certainly plastic.

Good ( never thought I’d say good about something being plastic!) although they do have a slightly suspicious grain on the back of them. I’ll try to get a better pic later.

I bet ivory though... because of the lines I can guess from pic #3:cyclops:
KSW, don't be sorry if it is, there is prescription for the poor elephant's murdering:D
Wear them in good health as a tribute to him;)

Natural material I think. But some chance bone. Can you get a photo that picks up grain/striations more clearly?

The tiny clips on the ivory colored fan shaped earrings are similar to ones I remember from 60s. If earrings date to then, they would still fall under current ivory ban, but would have predated the first, 1970s ban. If conclusion is ivory, doesn't help you sell, but may ease your conscience a little. :)

Tbh, they aren’t really ‘me’ but now you have said that I’ve got to wear them now!.
Here’s another photo but it’s seriously tricky to photograph as the light reflects. I’ll try with my OHs camera.

Here’s the other pair of earrings with the same backs if that helps to date them. Don’t know anything about these either.

I still can't tell. It may work better if you get a pic with little or no glare, even if it looks kind of dark. We can edit to brighten it up & grain many be captured better that way. I have learned underexposure is more correctable than overexposure. Also, photograph against a white background.

Your second pair are Spanish. Toledo Ware or faux Damascene - and those do look 1960s.

Yay, so I can avoid wearing them with a clear conscience. Obviously apart from the poor cow that provided the bone. Better that than Nellie!
