Featured Ebay spec vase

I bought this on ebay scrolling through chinese buy it now's

Scrolling through as a small gallery pic, it stood out

Obviously not chinese

But Looks to be hand painted(can't confirm yet), with signature

But the gilding looks seriously sloppy, childlike

Wasn't very much, so not gonna loose anything from it

Any thoughts ?

Any idea of the painted scene would be helpful as well, Greek ?

 

Probably Greek, the man is playing an Aulos or double flute, but wait for others opinions as I’m just guessing.

Problem for me is that gilding at the top. Seems pretty crude and poor quality. Don’t expect too much.

 

yeah, totally agree john

cant see how someone would paint something that looks quite good, then be so sloppy with the gilding

there does look a slight colour discrepancy with the top gilding, so wondering now if someone has added that after its been worn off

 

if it wasn't for that top part, looks quite close for royal vienna

maybe a copy of

all gonna depend if it is in fact hand painted, and what the base reveals
