Egg Shape-Italian Silver Trinket Box?..Horse Head Logo-Stirrup Legs-ID Help??

The abstract horse head logo looks modern, really modern, so matches with date. But what an odd little thing. Custom-ordered silver. Elaborate design... and an egg cup! Makes one wonder what the rest of the table setting looked like.

Maybe something from a private club? Or maybe a prize, although you would think that would be engraved. Personal gift for a horse owner, trainer.

I rather doubt this is an egg cup. The sulpher in eggs tarnishes silver.

Well, the spurs are for English style riding, not Western, and the position of the horse's head suggests either dressage or hunter. (That should rule out the wild west & cowboy style stuff.)

Since the majority of jumper logos show a horse actually jumping, and most racing logos show the horse's head pulling forward, I wouldn't think this design indicates either. It doesn't seem to be a breed-specific head, either.

I can't place this logo at all. I've tried breeding farms, organizations, hunt clubs, and more, but I haven't found it. (Tried businesses/corporations, too, with no luck.)

Of course, it is possible that 1) this was a show prize, and/or 2) this was custom or semi-custom made for someone.

Since it isn't all that old, is it possible that the company that made it is still in business? Perhaps contacting them might provide some insight?

 

Silver egg cups are very common, but don't believe this is one - think it's more likely some sort of corporate promotional or presentation gift item, a fancy little box, and not terribly old, maybe late 20th century.

Used to be able to find the registry of manufacturers through an Italian site, but it seemed to disappear a few years ago...

The company linked below sells gold jewelry on Amazon under the '1118 FI' name, and was founded in 1990, which fits in with dating of other Firenze makers with close numbers, perhaps they are the manufacturer - might contacting contacting them:

a trinket box would not need such height....as compared to the base..

 

Eh, I've collected eggs since Mom gave me a Limoges egg-shaped box for Easter when I was ten, and eggs are understandably common for Easter gifts, but the ovoid form is also just generally pleasing to both eye and hand. I have art glass eggs, egg form thimble cases, all sorts of boxes, oriented both vertically and horizontally, in a variety of sizes and materials, an Evans enamel lighter (they made all sorts of egg-shaped gift items), Norwegian enamel salt & pepper shakers, and many other egg shaped objects. There may be a specific reason that this is egg-shaped, but it could just as easily be that the designer thought it attractive...
