Egyptian Hallmarks

The stone is almost certainly a lab-grown color change sapphire from the Soviet Union. Nearly all Egyptian jewllery I have seen with this stone (& I own an embarrassing quantity of it) has been set in 12K, sometimes rose gold.

Color change sapphires look some shade of purple with peacock blue glints in general mixed lighting, completely blue under some fluorescents, hot pink in incandescent light & red & green if you take them into a dark place with a UV flashlight. Often cameras do not 'see' the blue, even when you have it clearly in front of you.

Thank you, one & all. I have so much to catch up on, my appearances here may be limited for a while to (ahem) cameo ones, but I'll try to nip in if I see something that I can really help with.

In addition to earrings, pendants & bracelets, I have so many rings with these stones that I would have to move on from my fingers & start on my toes to wear them all. Not something you want to admit to just anyone. Fortunately, you guys are not just anyone.
