I'd like to do that, but since Bush junior's regulations against terr'rr it's nigh to impossible to get a visa for the US in reasonable time.
but I'd be happy if someone knew a site ? perhaps someone would be willing to ship ?

This was quite my feeling too.. If it is supposed to be in reference to the picture of the "Old Times".... I really hate fakes! And such as these are most dangerous! Just imagine the girl wasn't so honest and would simply remove this plaque… Nobody could tell for sure, that it is not a table at least 40-60 years older than he actually is…

I mean - OK, it seems that this particular producer was not a bad one. I found some furniture of them even sold at Christie's… And it seems that they often provided furniture for theatre plays and similar stuff.. Still it is a 20th century piece in a style of 19th century, this makes it a fake in my eyes anyway.

although I understand your anger, IMO you're a bit fast with "fake". these models were made by a plethora of cabinet makers etc.. if an excact copy AND shooting with the lupara for the wormholes AND making up a hell of a story, then yes. but this here would be a replica at the most.

It isn't a fake. Old Times were making in at least the early 20th, and I believe, rather before that. High quality and expensive, too.

Weeeell... I see your point, and I do admit that I am maybe a little too strong about all this, but on the other hand, the way I see it- why do we buy antiquities in the first place? I am not talking now about dealers or traders... I think it is not because they would always look better than new furniture, or are better in use.. Or are better made... You can find such desks as this one also brand-new, made from finest quality wood and probably better decorated. They may even have an USB charger hidden somewhere for our convenience.
No, we still prefer to buy an antique one because we actually buy the feeling... Of having a time witness.. Something with a sort of a soul? A piece of history in our room. But when speaking of replicas: For me it is like buying an old copy of an antique coin. It may look just the same, it may be made of the same or even better material.. It will still never be authentic, since only the genuine ones are. .

I agree on liking antiques with a soul. This one, though, is by definition still antique, even if it isn't as old as some desks - and of course, each generation copies the one before! ;)
