    Love my Scandinavian enamels, but can't fault the Brits on their enamel-work - just received this lovely little 1892 spoon by Saunders & Shepherd, with beautiful champlevé enamel. @Ownedbybear - what's the flower, please?

    You might be right, Davey - the forget-me-nots I know have shorter, rounder petals and narrow leaves, but poking around find varieties that look more like this...

    I seem to recall that in the U.K., Forget-me-nots were a sign of friendship very often from one lady to another. I have a mother of Pearl vesta case with an enamelled flower just like this.

    My first reaction was violets.

    I'm with blooey, clematis. It is very sweet, and I like that extra touch of the turned handle.

    I think clematis is most likely it! And not sure why, but I do love a twist handle...

    So do I. I also love barley twists on furniture and candlesticks. I guess we both have a twisted streak.:hilarious:

    Hm. I don't think clematis. Five petals. Even the single flower ones usually have four or six, not an odd five. The leaves aren't right either, they look more like violet leaves. The flower looks far more like forget me not, which would make sense in the language of flowers. I actually think it's forget me nots against violet leaves. Double symbolism.

    Not the first time I've been accused of that...

    The five petals seemed wrong to me too, but poking around, found quite a few images of 5-petal clematis blossoms, most on the old 'Jackmanii' variety, but others too - I'm gonna call it clematis and name the spoon 'Hugh'...

    I grow Jackmanii like mad, it's weedlike in its ferocity, love it. Can you see why I think the leaves are wrong, too?

    Aha!:shifty::playful:
    That is the one I used to have in my garden, and that is what it reminded me of.
    Of course, what else!:)

    Honestly not really seeing forget-me-nots, but maybe just a violet, as Bronwen suggested (but then it couldn't be 'Hugh' - my only hope of having him)...

    Not a violet - have a look at the spacing of the petals on your spoon, it's even. Violets aren't.

    It is Hugh, even if it isn't, Hugh it is.:)

    Heh, Jackman is yummy, especially as Wolverine - but even though I'm not prone to crushes, will admit to a 45 year penchant for Jeff Bridges, in any role, even a baddie - The Dude abides...
