Featured English Silver Registration Number & Date Codes Different??!!??

    The hallmarks date this brush set to 1928 but the registration number is from about 1937. What gives? Do I go with the later date? Also, is the design enamel or guilloche? The Blue Birds are raised as you can feel their shape. TIA!!

    DOH! I just answered my own question! I was looking at the mark for London when it's actually Birmingham. The registration and hallmarks match. Sorry :(

    It doesn't appear to be guilloche. Guilloche actually describes the very fine lined pattern on the metal behind the enamel. These don't seem to have that fine line pattern.

    My eyes are pretty bad anymore, but I see guilloche engraving under the enamel - the pattern radiating from under the birds. It's a lovely little set...

    Yup. I had to blow it up a lot but the Guilloche pattern is there alright.
