If you search in HathiTrust for "payne's universum" it will bring up other issues.

 

It would be good to research Piotrowski some more, and also look into Pietrowski.
Spelling of names was, and still is, rarely standardized between different countries. Or even within countries during different periods. All of us researching genealogy run into that problem. And with the partitions Poland has had, there is bound to be confusion.

 

This could even be the same sitter as your Meta.
