<p>
My first ever post on Antiquers was a question about this carved plaque, I had been trying to find out more about it for years but nobody knew anything. It came to the point the other day where I submitted photos to Sotheby's in a vain hope they would know what it was and put it in to their auction. I received a message back from Sotheby's with no more information than it wasn't something they wanted <img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie19" alt=":banghead:" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /> undeterred I returned to my endless search when I had a breakthrough <img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie79" alt=":shame:" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie79" alt=":shame:" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /> I was looking through Venetian museums when I stumbled on a carved picture frame by Luigi Frullini who just happened to be working at the same time as the guy who carved my plaque and often they are mentioned together in the same articles. I am now convinced this plaque was carved by Pietro Giusti, he is a well known Italian carver who has his work in the Met in New York and in the V&A in London. Here are some links to his work, it would be nice for you kind folks to give me your opinion, if you think it's by the same artist and what kind of value it may have.</p><p><a href="https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/1998.19/" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/1998.19/" rel="nofollow">https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/1998.19/</a></p><p><a href="http://www.eurodecart.com/european-ivories-19c/siena-primavera-wall-plaque" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://www.eurodecart.com/european-ivories-19c/siena-primavera-wall-plaque" rel="nofollow">http://www.eurodecart.com/european-ivories-19c/siena-primavera-wall-plaque</a></p><p><a href="https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d7/3c/ed/d73cedae2bd72c77b24f610940863896.jpg" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d7/3c/ed/d73cedae2bd72c77b24f610940863896.jpg" rel="nofollow">https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d7/3c/ed/d73cedae2bd72c77b24f610940863896.jpg</a></p><p><a href="http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O368769/frame-frame/" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O368769/frame-frame/" rel="nofollow">http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O368769/frame-frame/</a></p><p>
</p><p><br /></p>
