I do think it's carnelian. The colour looks wrong for coral as does the opacity. Jasper, yes, good point.

@BoudiccaJones Is the back of this flat or is there an irregular depression there? Do the little black places look like inclusions or like something ate it away there?

 

It FEELS coldish ...it's flat at the back...but has depressions. Shall I try and get a better pic if the sun comes out today? xx
