It looks like the maker, "Tollins", closed down around 2000.

We have US on one side and metric on the other. On my old Fire King one the lines eroded in the dishwasher, so I can't use it for measuring anymore.

Another good day! Paid £7 for all. The bangle is 9ct gold. Silver earrings and a couple of rings. The little brooch is an old one but just amethyst glass. The rest is more modern costume. The big hefty pendant is unusual, some type of rock.

Bingo! I have pictures I need to download from my camera and upload too. FINALLY found some jewelery today worth showing. Went to the bag sale at the church, to donate the $15 for the bag mostly. Came home with jeans marked Petite (cut all wrong) a scarf for a friend, some assorteds and brownies from their bake sale. The brownies didn't get far in the door before my mother scarfed one.

OK. I took some photos. The dark red beads missing their clasp are bakelite. I think they're supposed to look like opaque cherry amber. The ivory bracelet really is ivory. I need to restring it and figure out if I have some black glass paint around. It ought to work as a replacement for whaever the black stuff was. The four strings of amber really are amber. I think the black and tan (mostly) are sardonyx with some sort of dye added. The blue ones look like chrysoprase. The black beads are onyx with pearls and gold-filled beads, but the dyed lapis has 14k on it. Bracelet too. There's a little bit of sterling. She said she took all of the gold to a local jewelry store, but she missed a 4g 14k/585 foxtail chain. Whoops.

The amber, btw, was $4 for all FIVE strands. The opaque ones need restringing desperately. The purple "jade" doesn't seem to be precious metal and most likely isn't jade either. The amber pin is one I already had, but it snuck into the pictures.

This is the jewelry haul I've been waiting for since last May. FINALLY !

Ruth, an indelible laundry pen might fix that.

    Good weekend for me :)

    - A sweet amber enamel painted tumbler
    - A hair pick and 2 combs, the large one with 22k gold inlay
    - 2 celluloid ring boxes
    - A 14k Victorian belt buckle
    - Assorted gold filled chains
    - A silver tone sash pin
    - 2 silver twisted bracelets
    - Gold filled earrings, a locket, a pair of pins with painted porcelain portraits and a watch clip on chain

I think the green vase is Loetz Rusticana, got that at the Swap Shop today, can't beat free!

My car boot sale, first of the season for my favourite one, was RAMMED. Best finds were people I’d not seen since the end of October. Much hugging.

    FREE Lotz? Score!

The crazy part was running into a friend on Saturday, and then coming home to a Message from someone we went to school with, asking if I knew "Debbie" without a last name. It was that Debbie.

I need to go where you are! Combs with inlay...real or faux?

I checked it with a loupe and it is inlayed metal. I can't figure out how to test it without damaging it so that's why I am going with what it is stamped on the back of the comb. I did do a search and found similar combs with 22k gold inlay.

Stunning finds, Houseful, Evelynb and Marie!!! :singing:

Ruth, you might want to do some research comparing with those red Bakelite beads with "cherry amber faturan (red) beads" on Ebay. Go under sold and order highest first. There are some sold that look a lot like this.

I'll have to go look. I've seen lighter cherry amber, but nothing this dark. Looking at those prices, no wonder...whoops! Restring (knotted!) and add a clasp and my $2 turns into $400 or close.

Sorry I should have been more clear. Real or faux tort :turtle::turtle::turtle:?

Oh, sorry, I assume faux especially since the 22k mark on the back is raised letters.

Hmm! What do the raised letters mean? I thought 22k piqué work might indicate the material was a higher expensive stuff like the real thing.

Molded into the material, probably. I've seen that often on plastic items, never on real ones.

Oh like the mark isn't on the gold but the tort material? The real stuff was molded too, but that makes sense. I'd UV light them up anyway for funsies. :D

OK, here is the mark, raised letters and the comb under blacklight. Nothing there, how would tortoise shell look under blacklight?
