I totally understand buying the Charles/Diana pieces. They "speak to their time". I remember getting up in the middle of the night with my younger sister to watch the wedding on live TV. I was 15 and it was a big deal. The spectacular flameout that happened later makes these rather sad. It doesn't increase their value, but they evoke memories.

Did you mean to say you skipped school? Or were they showing it at your school & you were eager to get there? Here in the US, I got up in the wee hours to watch.

Sorry I am the typo queen. I skipped school to watch it. I was fascinated with her because she always looked so sad, even on her wedding day her eyes looked so sad.

Doomed from the start, really. It started with what tried to look like hope and ended in disaster.

I always thought the dress looked like a little girl's idea of a bride's dress, & then she mixed up the order of his names when saying her vows. It did not augur well. All very sad.

In my other employ, I had to guard her on a royal visit.

I was facing the crowd when she backed onto me, my white gloves touched her derrière.
I still have those gloves somewhere

Yes, me, her, her security, the crowd.
I don't think anyone got photos of it, though.

I did take my Olympus Trip with me though, I handed it to a woman in the crowd and told her to use all 36 frames on the 35mm film on my behalf.

She did a good job, I'll have to dig those photos out from somewhere

As promised, here are 3 pics from when I was guarding Lady Di.
I'm not on them, I've had to lighten and crop them.
From memory it was 1990 or 1991

God I still miss that woman . She had her issues (who doesnt?) but she was a loving and kind lady who did more for those society deemed unworthy than any before or since . now if only her youngest would shut the "bleep" up !
