I can find silverplate here in U.K. Charity shops and jumbles, I’ll usually buy the plated copper especially the heavy trays to take to the scrapyard. People see the worn plate through to the brass or copper and dismiss it.

I found a junk jar in a thrift today for $5. There was nothing crazy in it, but I found some 14k scrap that'll pay for it and then some - just some earring backs. There seems to be scrap sterling too. They wanted $12 for one full of OK but not great costume jewelry. That one stayed for the "next guy".

I always hold on to 14k and sterling earrings backs because I lose them and I find earrings that need them. Junk jars here start at $20 for a small one. A yard sale was announced today at 11 a m starting today, jewelry listed, it was already 90 degrees, nope.

I normally don't even find junk jars any more, but this place puts out some here and there. Ill Will sells no jewelry at all. I think Savers has bags or jars sometimes, but they're sky high and always mostl merch that didn't sell on the racks. They don't put gold or silver out and they search through it for everything. I haven't gone there in years; there's no point.

One of my look-everything-up thrifts must be slipping. They missed this .

They sell all books for 50 cents (used to be 25 cents.) The soup cookbook has three great recipes I will try- split pea, Yankee corn chowder, and cream of mushroom. The Betty Crocker book is from 1979 and is based on recipes you can easily make using cake and muffin mixes.

Lastly, thrift shop find. I love these vintage sterling rhinestone bangles, I never find them, and I found one a few weeks ago. $5 each.

I was near a thrift today running errands. I posted this on the jewelry board, $6.

Jewelry was 25% off. Black coral and turquoise, so $9 for this pair.

Today there was a chance of rain. I ended up at an antique show where half the dealers, who set up outdoors, didn't set up. Then I visited two antique malls. Pics tomorrow. I missed a yard sale at one antique mall, but I think I made the right decisions since I can't be everywhere all at once.

The yard sales I got up on almost no sleep for today... weren't there. "Come back tomorrow" said one. "I can't; I'll be in church" said I. They weren't quite sure what to make of that, which is pretty sad.

The antique show hardly had any jewelry dealers. It was a lot of primitives and mish mash. I did get these from one dealer who had a bunch of items just thrown in a box.

I have never seen a netsuke set into a sterling ring. More on this on the jewelry board. Another dealer told me it was older and he would sell it fir $375...set in sterling.
