The white ones do look like some sort of stone. The tigerseye ones are a craft show item, most likely. Sterling clasps like that can cost $10 each new without much of a problem, so odds are you did well on that one. The flowered ones are very modern Chinese beads. The pink and white ones are postwar Japanese, but not by a lot. The scarabs are strung with bone beads, probably back in the 80s. That's my guess from the bone beads and the clasp, at least.

Thanks Evely :) I didn't pay more than 2 bucks for any of them so I'm very happy with what I got. Like you said the sterling clasps are probably worth more than what I paid for all of them together - They're going to my daughters to do with them whatever they want :)

Not the worst that could happen. Those Japanese ones are flat out begging for a restring; the cotton they're on could snap any old time. I'd have bought the stone ones to use as spacers on something else too.

It doesn't look old, but it's nice and shiny and leaves guys wondering why someone bothered. I like that in a piece of glass.

A bust of the composer G. Puccini.
Apparently it's circa 1930 according to this site that has one of them as well: http://ashleywadeantiques.co.uk/index.php/gallery/detail/composition-bust-of-composer-puccini
If it's truly that old, it would make sense that the bust was made in the late 20's since Puccini died in 1924.

I'm a bit confused when it comes to the material. It's more durable and more "stone-like" than plaster but when I decided to wash it (at that point I thought it would withstand that), pieces of the base started to break off and liqyify, like plaster (thank goodness it was the base). Luckily I was quick to dry it and noticeable damage was avoided.

There may be a siggie under the wax pencil ... at least I hope it's wax pencil.

Today I went out and found groceries, including a free package of sirloin tips. Connecticut has a law that says if something rings up higher than its marked price, the customer gets the first one free. Gotta love free stew meat; this is going into some green curry and making one happy Ruthie.

The black and white vase is Navajo souvenir pottery. It's not a traditional method, but the designs are right. The marking on the bottom is half rubbed off, but it was there originally. The print is a linoleum block print; it says so. Can't read whodunnit, but that's not English. Mexican, maybe? ??isuelarena ? The first letter is stylized.
