He did a good job, imo.

Charles Aznavour was also of migrant origin btw, Armenian.;)
Where would we be without migrants, right? The Dutch Golden Age Republic wouldn't have existed without them, which means that the Netherlands wouldn't have existed.

very true, i think sometimes the best music comes through struggle and hardship

without the blues and rock n roll (which certainly wasn't a reflection of white music at the time/ or genesis of it)

would there have been a beatles even, probably not

When I hear Aznavour, Montand, and especially Charles Trenet's 'La Mer', it takes me back to 50 cent foreign movie nights during college. Cheap wine, smoke and sometimes a generous girl.Blabbing about art, politics, and the mysterious cinema of Godard and Resnais.

Too true Charlie, except for one piece Cliff and The Drifters (Shadows) did, their 1958 debut single-'Move It'. Even Lennon liked that one,and he didn't suffer pop-pap quietly.

Local band is playing Beatles music at outdoor venue this afternoon, so I'm going to have 2 straight hours of nostalgia!

talk about nostalgia, the bbc put on the whole live aid concert last night. 1985 so i would have been about 8 at the time

but could still remember that certain heartbreaking clip with drive (by the cars) playing in the background and even some of the images

i would have never chose to watch it, but did as it was just on, but thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing, marvellous

i did see one thing that i couldn't believe though, don't think i've ever seen it with an adult brain before, and that was the music video they showed, is this a wind up?.............one of the most embarrassing things i think i've ever seen, from 2 legends none the less :eek::eek::eek:
