Hello! I picked up this long strand of glass beads yesterday at an antique mall, they were labeled Vintage Carnival. I didn’t see a similar style online searching “carnival”. I thought they were sparkly and neat, and have a good weight to them. They are painted/coated on one side, and the strand looks to be hand knotted. I haven’t decided if I want to leave as is or make into something else.

Carnival glass is a rainbow-y effect, rather like an oil slick on blacktop. These are a gold paint over gray and not horribly old. The bead shape looks modern-ish and like the ones coming out of China. I'd imagine the Germans did the finish first.

Thanks for the comments. I looked a bit more based on what was mentioned here and the most similar I found were Czech glazed beads, like this listing on Etsy. But not the same cut/faceting. They weren't expensive, just a fun find as I'd not seen the style before!

    Thanks again,

    Kate

Not carnival glass, I'd call this coated glass. But I think this is a somewhat older necklace. Hand knotted and appears to be quite long. How long is the piece?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

If you do successfully make the beads into something else, update this thread and let us see!
