He is the granddaddy of bentwood furniture, much like Belter. Thonet invented the No. 14 chair, the “ice cream” chair with the round stitch-canes seat and bentwood frame. To date it’s sold over 50 million units; I’m happy to say we have 4 of the 1850s originals.
