Hi, I have what I think is a gilded spelter bust marked Laporte on the back along with Made In France. It depicts long ago English Prime Minister William Gladstone. It has his DOB and DOD on each side. There is a noted French sculptor named Emile Laporte but this piece does not seem to be up to his standards, though there is some fairly decent detail. It measures about 6.5 inches tall. Any help, ideas or leads will be appreciated as usual. IMG_3058.JPG IMG_3059.JPG IMG_3059.JPG IMG_3061.JPG IMG_3065.JPG IMG_3062.JPG IMG_3063.JPG IMG_3064.JPG

    Hi,
Being spelter I think it is a "newer" copy of the original bronze casting. Not made yesterday but copied of the original years ago.

    And obviously for export!

Thanks, it is a little unusual, the French and British connection.

Thank you! No I didn't. It does appear to be bronze and not spelter like the one I have is. So Greg's thought does sound right.
