Those black chips might be haemetite. How heavy does it feel and how cold? If you've a magnet, it might react.

Ty @kyratango would these tubes have been cut by hand or by machine? I ask this question because the pieces are different sizes so I thought they might be handmade glass beads or more natural stones.

    looks like dangerous machine!

we rebuilt the bathroom last summer and I helped my husband… well. tried to help:angelic:. I tried to cut a few tiles myself with a saw but everything broke:facepalm:. and those tiles were 1cm thick.:jawdrop:..

I think it is very clever if the glass tubes are cut with such a saw.

From the hardware, 1980s or late 70s. It's not ancient. The beads were cut on a bias, but otherwise like any other bugle bead. Those might be Japanese, but the hardware could be from anywhere and the necklace could have been assembled anywhere they made jewelry. The metal looks like Japan or Hong Kong or Germany, but that doens't mean much.

Not a stupid question.:) 'Hardware' refers to the end caps and the clasp.

Hardware = metal bits. I've seen beads like this before, but I'm not sure if I ever saw an entire necklace of them.

End caps and clasp. The beads all look to be glass. They have silver paint inside to make them pretty.
