    Hi Bev,
My grandfather did the same thing. All of the "antiques", framed photographs and such, gone. The worst was all of my Lionel Trains from the 1950s I had 6 4'by8' plywood sheets with track and working coal tipples, cattle loading and all of the trains in original boxes and such. I went to get them when my son was born in 1960. Gramps sold them to a collector for 5 bucks. I never took them since I was living in a small apartment. When I bought the house I went back to get my stuff but Gramps had "sold" everything. I called the family and Gramps went to live with my aunt. She lived 250 miles away, she only saw him 3 or 4 times a year.

Ouch. On the other hand, it's just stuff. It's not Grandma or Grandpa. Mine all died by the time I turned 14. All the family stories and history they remembered went with them for the most part. I'd rather have Grandma's stories than Grandma's leftovers.

My Mom lost my favorite piece , of her jewelry, that I'd played with since I was old enough to poke around in her things.
I should have taken it when her alzheimers started to take hold....but alas...a maid, or cleaning woman...get hold of it first.
Along with other items , father and I searched for.....but could never find !!!
