Any ideas on maker? Has anyone ever seen this shape before? I can't decide if it was for a flush ceiling type mounting or a pendant light? Any ideas or information would be helpful :) uploadfromtaptalk1435202969921.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1435202977542.jpg

    Beautiful.
    Size?
I'd go with pendant. Or might have been the center with 3-4 smaller shades surrounding.

Have you looked inside and out on the rim for a signature.

I'm going to put my money on French in origin. (be advised, I don't usually win when I gamble.)

It's about 12 inches tall. I agree I think French. It is etched on the inside as well so it gives it more depth when lit.

I need to put my glasses on and look closer for some kind of making or signature. I just got it on a trip out of town.

My suspicion is pendant at that length. Maybe outside over an entrance?
If not...it could work that way now.

Gorgeous secessionist iridescent art glass shade, circa 1915. I would think likely Czech/Bohemian in origin. Agree with the others that this was probably for a pendant or part of a multi-shade chandelier.

Thank you for the suggestion of origin. I will gear my research towards that and see if I can come up with anything. I always love trying to solve the mystery of a new piece I know nothing about.
    Origin,maker/artist,value.....

Would it still be considered iridescent, even if it doesn't have the metallic sheen? Sorry I really don't know much about antique glass and in the one picture it does look slightly iridescent.

I agree with the time period early Art Deco. Wish I could figure out how to change the title lol ......

I see iridescence in the brown/bronze colored body. I assume it is really there.

I would not call this art deco. In my post above, I called it secessionist period. I think if you look up the term, you will see that this fits quite well.

Unfortunately there isn't any iridescence in the shade. It has lines in the glass and I think that might be what you are seeing. They are not raised and are very subtle.
