If you go to this link, you may get a security warning, but I think that is probably because the link has had so few users. I can see no reason why the pdf of the master's thesis of a St. Andrew's student from 1997 would pose any threat. I have opened & downloaded it & so far, so good. Have been skimming it. It answers lots of questions about impronte, impressions. He says that glass ones are rare, & names Tassie & Paoletti as the prominent makers.

I love the use of 'expertise' as a verb. I'm stealing the idea. :D

For all the appreciations so many of you have left me, :shy:

Just noticed there's an emoji that captures what I look like these days: :blackeye:

This is a bottomless rabbit hole isn’t it!
Not the most coherent of Masters thesis but interesting, especially the part about glass paste.
It said not secure but let me straight in so my iPad likes to live dangerously.
I’m still at a loss though, are these common even though that paper suggests not?, should I get them appraised as to if they are Tassie or more modern replicas :confused: Every google leads me in a different direction!

Broke my face just in time for Halloween. Fortunately I'm not Humpty Dumpty & they put it together again, but still have some discoloration around right eye. Have been grateful that mask wearing has become normal behavior.

While people are still making impressions in plaster, selling without mentioning they are modern, I can see no percentage in forging glass ones, just not enough market for the expense & effort. I think you can rely on it that these are antique.

I don't know how to tell who made them & don't know who I could steer you to who would really know, not just puff out their chest & pontificate authoritatively. Are all 14 colorless?
