I bought 40 glass negatives in a job lot and wondered if anyone could help with the period?
I'm guessing late Victorian but would love some expert help if anyone knows more.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    I'd put them around 1910.

Agree. Edwardian, not Victorian. That's a cartwheel hat above.

I agree with an Edwardian date, based on the clothing.

Another way to support the date is by the technology of the glass negative. Gelatin dry plates were in common use between 1880 and about 1920. Gelatin plates were commercially made. They show a thin, even coating of a black-gray gelatin emulsion, on thin plate glass with machine cut edges. The emulsion sometimes shows “bronzing” or a metallic silver sheen due to oxidation and migration of the silver.

Earlier (1851-c.1881) collodion wet plate negatives are on thicker glass, often with ground edges. The collodion emulsion is thicker, often uneven, and can show ripples due to the hand coating process.

Amazing photos. Also amazing is that so many years ago we could do inventive things like this when we put our brains to good use.
