I just purchased this for a whole $2 because I was curious about it. It seems to be white glass - it rings like it and I can see my finger through it. But I’m not 100% sure. It’s hand painted.

It looks like the handle was formed separate and added to the cup.

    Any thoughts?

Looks like porcelain - I can see hairline fractures on the bottom.

Just curious (because I’m trying to learn) can’t glass get hairline cracks as well?
    Thank you!

Looks more like a moustache cup than a coffee mug, to me..

Point of interest, Moustache cups were for drinking coffee from, so without the moustache attachment, wouldn't it be a coffee mug? And the orange beads may be enamel, the rest is not. It's called a 'wash'.

    The handle screams shaving mug.

It doesn’t have the insert though?

Most definitely but it will not have a brownish discoloration which sometimes could indicate moisture damage. I have seen eggshell porcelain often mistaken for glass. That handle that has been applied on is definitely not glass.

Is the paint over a raised design?

Most of the painting is on the surface but not really raised. The flowers are raised. EC631F7A-06BA-4521-ABA5-B0576EC7F221.jpeg
