Featured Gold Earring Hallmark help please

Just out of interest as the earring is what it is, a nice but ordinary piece of very plain 18k gold ( only one sadly).
The hallmarks are not ones I’ve seen before and wonder if anyone recognises them please?

Is there another mark on it, I thought I saw something else on the finds page?

 

That’s very close but the left letter is a C and the right is a C or a G possibly but that’s negotiable!
Still very helpful though as I didn’t realise there were even letters there until you said it!.

Good eye! Yes there is a mark on the pin part but it’s not clear at all so didn’t add that as it’s squidged.

Might it be the lozenge someone referred to in the above link?

 

Or could be part of the large clover that someone ambitiously tried to stamp on it!.The lozenge with the clover and the CG is definitely the same.

I would be going down my scrap gold jewellery shop @£28 per gram but maybe you have a better use for it

 

I suspect it’s Charles Garnier. I’ve looked a few and looks promising.

 

That’s where it’s heading!. May stick it on eBay and see what it does with some other bits of scrap.

 

@KSW, all I did was apply a sharpening filter to your 3rd image down, it may or may NOT help......it also looks like there are some letters in that 'horseshoe shaped' lock (?) above the markings....
