Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing well.

I have this 15”pearl necklace and I was wondering if these are Japanese pearls. The clasp is marked SILVER and there was a small pearl that is missing now from the other side of the clasp. I don't know much about pearls other than these are genuine and I was also wondering if these are fresh water pearls and where they might be from. Thank you all for responding and please enjoy your weekend and stay safe.

If I were guessing I'd say some sort of Chinese freshwater pearls. Nice to wear and they look pretty, but not crazy money. The shape looks like you could call them baroque, but there may be a more specific name.

Going by the way the ends are finished, I'd say this was put together by a home craftsperson, using a vintage clasp.

I'm not sure when these pearls came on the market, 1990s maybe? Cultured freshwater, China as likely as anywhere.

Any pearl that is not spherical is baroque. There is probably a more descriptive name used in the trade, which I do not know.
