Christmas is so boring. No auctions no sales no op shops. How dare you all go on holidays and leave me bored stiff. Fortunately my local antique/vintage/modern/chinese import junk/decor junk shop was open. It's called Hazels Collectables (https://www.facebook.com/HazelsCollectables/) and I visit the “almost junk” section regularly because I'm just plain cheap and sometimes find a new pottery mark I haven't seen before. First cab off the rank was the crackle glaze vase that just felt great in the palm of my hand and I loved the shape. It has a pine tree in a circle and the letter K marked on the base that I haven't been able to track down yet. It is surprising just how common a tree in a circle is for a pottery mark. Next up was the Falconware Grecian vase from the 20s/30s. Had a little bit of crazing but the glaze was just glorious. Then there was the “Candyware” vase. Never heard of them before. Turned out to be a tile manufacturer who in the 1930s decided to fill up the extra space in their kilns with household goods etc. Stopped in the 1960s when the tile manufacturing became automated and the need to fill the unused space disappeared. Lastly was this Majolica(?) vase with a number on the bottom (WB 143/20??) that made me think it was Bay Keramik but I'm not sure yet. All up $30 was spent and boredom relieved at least until tomorrow.

Sizes/weights for the interested.

Crackle – 17cm High 13cm Round 0.75kg

Falcon – 18.7cm High 12.5cm Round 0.6kg

Candy – 12cm High 13cm Round 0.59kg

Majolica – 20.6cm High 12.6cm Round 0.65kg

Cheers

Stephen
