Alas no platinum or gold or silver just silverplate some gold gilding and lost plating. Found it for a few dollars in a recycle thrift type of shop back in the days when they didn't charge silly prices and liked the way the elegant shape led down to clawed feet. Couldn't find its brother though. I'm a bit confused as to origin and maker. First impression was French - mid Victorian although the feet look like those cheap mid fifties Italian castings. Still they did like things with animal feet on them in the olden days. One of the discs has "J.C" stamped underneath but can't find any data on the maker and one foot screw has been replaced with a modern one. Any candlestick genius's's out there?? I can see I'm gonna have to watch the phrasing more carefully around here. The natives are merciless.
