    hi all

this was something i picked up for 50p, thought it was bakelite untill i studied it later

doubt its anything special, but thinking it might be jade of some type

seem to have read countless articles and guides on jade, but find it hard to get any real testing methods

supposedly if its dyed if will fluoresce under uv

any idea on this, stays very cold to the touch, wont scratch with metal

i appreciate its a hard one to tell

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    Could/would that be Bakelite?

Sure wants to be bakelite/catalin, but it sounds like stone. The Chinese have been selling pretty dyed rock jewelry as jade substitute for a long time now. Dunno what that is.

Lovely bracelet, well done for finding such bargain.
It looks a stone bracelet, also you may consider glass as well.
If it’s cold when you hold it, it should be stone or glass, not plastic.
There are so many green stones out there and also there are died stones, so unless is properly tested, you won’t know for sure. My personal opinion is to hold it against day light and compare it with another Jade item. It looks like spinach Jade to my eye. Also look for air bubbles, hold it against a bright light, if it has air bubbles is glass.
Also someone told me if you scratch the Jade with a knife , it will not scratch, I don’t know if this is true, I have never tested anything with a knife.
Lastly, below is a list of green stones to consider.
    Kind regards,

    Thanks for the info Simona.

No air bubbles, and it stays colder than glass would when held so definitely some kind of stone
