Earthware."</p><p><br /></p><p>#263 is a backstamp like on this plate saying:</p><p>"Printed mark c. 1851-93 with or without "Don Pottery." N.B. "& Son" or "& S" occurs from 1851 on all marks."</p><p><br /></p><p>This would mean this plate dates no earlier than 1851. Mixing up front, backs, marks, etc... of items is a real headache to us. The front and back of the 1st plate together and the front and back of the 2nd plate together might have saved me time in researching.
