I specifically contacted Chairish and was told they were not reporting under $20k - perhaps they are absorbing the tax?

    Odd...
I don't know how they can avoid the law.
    From Chairish's Terms of Service:
"You are responsible for collecting and paying any payments or taxes associated with using and making sales through our Services. Where applicable, we will issue 1099-K forms to certain sellers in the United States to comply with IRS requirements."

Here was the reply when I asked
    "Hi Laura,

I hope this finds you well!

We do not mail 1099s to the majority of our sellers, which applies to your circumstances as well. Chairish is required to send 1099s only to Sellers who've sold over 200 items and have sales of $20,000 or more during the previous calendar year.

If you would like to see your see your sales history, and once you are logged into your account, go to MySold Items https://www.chairish.com/product/list/sold you will see a turquoise button labeled "Download Sales History" near the top of the page. This will create an Excel/CSV file that includes a detailed sales and payment history.

You can also check out more information on our website (https://support.chairish.com/hc/en-us/articles/115007399307-Charging-Sales-Tax).

We're here to help, so please let us know if you need anything else!"

I would try to speak with a "real" person at Chairish to verify this, if you sell with them.
The reply you received sounds "canned" and I can't help wondering if, when you contacted them, they hadn't yet updated their automatic reply to tax questions. The 200 items/$20,000 limits are the old rules.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I'm originally from Indiana, currently live in Iowa. Crows proliferate in both states, but I didn't know that any of the cities were especially known for their crows. Is there a crow celebration festival? That would be interesting!

I don't sell Nippon, I only buy it.
$15 to $25 without the lid.
That vase is way out of line. Wishful thinking.

Well, not quite a crow festival. I live in Terre Haute. During the fall and winter the crows feed on the fields over in Illinois in the morning and then fly back across the Wabash River in the evening to roost in our trees. The flocks are huge. As you can imagine the droppings are a real problem. We have cannons that move around town to try and disperse the crows from roosting in one area too long with mixed results. The problem appears to be beyond current technology to solve.

As it happens we have a jazz festival in late summer. The planners of this year's festival designed a poster featuring a crow under a tree playing a banjo to try and capitalize on our rather dubious distinction regarding the crows. After its unveiling the poster was perceived by some as racist. It caused quite a stir and the city Human Relations committee got involved. Meetings were held. The poster was revised with the crow and the banjo gone but crows flying in the background. However, the revision was also viewed as problematic so the image went in another direction entirely. There were the appropriate apologies and it was chalked up as unintentional and as a learning experience. This area of Indiana has a lot to answer as regards our race relations. The Ku Klux Klan was headquartered in the county just north of here for many years and, while the city is about 10% black, the counties surrounding us are nearly all white. I'm going to stop here as I can go on for quite some time regarding Indiana and its relations with its minority communities. Anyway, the jazz festival will proceed but I don't envision a crow festival here anytime in the near future.
